Night at the Museum

We attended a Night at the Museum ball and I went as Mary Custis Lee, great-granddaughter of Martha Washington and the wife of Robert E. Lee. I thought it would be a good excuse to post some pictures of the general and his wife.

Mary inherited Arlington estate which, during the Civil War, was taken by the North and was later turned into the Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington Mansion and 200 acres of ground immediately surrounding it were designated officially as a military cemetery June 15, 1864, by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton.
More than 300,000 people are buried at Arlington Cemetery.

ouch...

Well, I got my wisdom teeth pulled last Thursday! I had all four and had to get rid of them. It really wasn't all that bad...I have had teeth pulled two times before this, once I was awake when it happened... I had a lot of dear friends praying for me, and praise the Lord I wasn't the least bit nervous going in! I have the best little nurse in the whole wide world and she took very good care of me! Sometimes she'd even come up to me, if I was sitting at the counter etc. and tell me that I needed to come and lie down. She'd also run back and forth to the kitchen for me exchanging ice packs. We actually used frozen pop corn kernals, which work quite well! They don't stay frozen and cool as long, but they mold to your face better and I think are more comfortable, but who wants to hear about this anyway???

The Graduation~

The Grand Event

August 18th marked the day of our graduation party! Both of our dresses turned out lovely and were so delightful to wear. Here are a few pictures.

My earrings~

We both made earrings the morning of the party to match our dresses.

Now we're gearing up for the next large Civil War reenactment of the year! Kami, Mom, Annie, and I are all going to make capes, Lordwilling, before this next event. I'll try and keep updated with that!

Many Blessings~

Additions

Where to start? I have been very blessed on my graduation by all of my family and friends. I was talking to Dad tonight saying that all of this has been so wonderful. I think it may take a while for it all to sink in. The Lord has greatly blessed me and I am truly thankful.

I was surprised with a very special gift from my grandpa, which is oringally from my great grandmother who passed away last year. A beautiful pearl necklace and earring set! (Which I am wearing right now!)

The other addition... A XD SUB-COMPACT 3" 40S&W. We all had a jolly good time shooting it this afternoon. I was surprised we could go through 100 rounds so quickly! Fun, fun!

Graduation Dress Diary, Chapter 3

The Skirt
My dress is starting to come together! It is exciting...
Ok, so I've got the skirt for the most part put together. It is very full! It took me a while to get all of the gathers even. I can't wait to see it over a crinoline! I've decided to just go ahead and make my own crinoline, since I have all of the materials already.

Mock Bodice
Shortly after my last post in this dress diary I finished a mock bodice out of muslin. I wanted to see what I was going to need to change for the actual dress bodice before I cut it out. I would post a picture of it, but I can't get a good one.
